F1 paddock chat says former world champ fractured vertebrae in Cartegena test crash
MICHAEL SCHUMACHER is recovering from a fractured spine, suffered in his pre-season German Sueprbike crash at Cartegena over the winter - according to Formula 1 paddock gossip.
The 40-year-old claimed at the time that hospital checks showed no serious injuries but the Swiss paper 'Blick' is claiming that among the injuries he actually suffered were severe concussion and broken ribs.
And now the F1 rumour mill is in full swing after Schumacher appeared in the Barcelona pitlane last weekend and was still unable to turn his head properly, speculation was rife that he may have fractured a vertebrae in the fall.
His spokeswoman Sabine Kehm said: "We do not take part in speculation."
It is rumoured that Schumacher still receives treatment for his injuries in the Bad-Nauheim hospital, but the Sportklinic's Dr Johannes Peil also refused to comment.
And spokeswoman Kehm insisted: "Once he is again fully fit, he would like to ride motorcycles again."
