TT icon Roger Hurst passes away after a short illness

THE FORMER head of the Isle of Man TT Marshals' Association (IoMTTMA), Roger Hurst, died at the weekend, aged 73.

Mr Hurst passed away on Sunday after a short illness.

In a statement, the IoMTTMA said he would be "sadly missed".

Mr Hurst was a TT marshal for 33 years, 15 of them at the head of the organisation, and chief marshal from 2006 to 2008.

"During that time the organisation changed and developed significantly and Roger's contribution has helped to make the organisation the professional operation that it is today," said Nick Black, Department of Economic Development

"His spirit, dedication, good humour and selfless enthusiasm helped him to combat the many challenges that he faced in his role as Chairman and Chief Marshal and he will be sorely missed by everyone in the TT organisation."
