FORMER 500CC World Champion Mick Doohan has joined the board of Repco Rally Australia, the company behind the Australian round of the World Rally Championship, scheduled to take place in Australia this September.
Doohan, one of the most talented racers to ever grace the world's racetracks, has been brought into the venture for his vast racing experience as a competitor and consultant. The five-time world champ said he hoped to make a significant contribution to the event:
"I'm motorsport's biggest fan, so although my background is mostly with motorcycles I've also followed rallying, Formula One, and other forms of racing. It's important for Australia to be part of world championship motorsport."
