East Midlands circuit puts hold on entrance fees to attract large crowds during credit crunch
FOLLOWING completion of the initial phase of Donington Park’s ongoing redevelopment programme, the Parkland circuit has released tickets for its 2009 calendar of events – and prices from 2008 have been frozen to help enthusiasts beat the credit crunch.
Children under 16 continue to benefit from free tickets at most events on the calendar at the family friendly venue.
Online and telephone sales got underway as the circuit roared back into action today with a motorcycle track day attended by approximately 180 bike enthusiasts. The contractors responsible for the completion of a new £750,000 tunnel and the careful removal of the Dunlop bridge finished a track handover yesterday in time for action to begin promptly this morning.
In the world of motorcycle racing, Britain has its best line-up for decades with strong contenders in all leading championships. The British Superbike Championship will kick-off the trio of premier two-wheel events at the Leicestershire circuit on 23-25 May, followed by WSB in May. MotoGP appears for the last time on 24-26 July. Advance ticket sales are set at £49 for race day and £60 for the weekend.
“We have a fantastic calendar of events in 2009,” says circuit owner Simon Gillett, “and we can’t wait for it to get underway. We’re privileged to be hosting the only British rounds of the world’s two leading motorcycle championships with World Superbikes and MotoGP."
