FRENCHMAN David David Frétigné has won the second motorcycle stage of this year's Dakar Rally.

Riding a 450cc Yamaha, Frétigné finished the stage with a time of 3h 59’20 - 43 seconds faster than his fellow countryman and day one winner, David Casteu, riding a Sherco.

Race favourite Marc Coma (KTM) was the third fastest, crossing the finishing line 1 min 08 behind Frétigné, having been handed a 22-minute penalty for speeding through a village on the previous day. The Spaniard's mistake drops him back to 14th place and 22 mins 37 behind the leader in the overall race standings.
