FORMER 500CC World Champion Alex Criville has been honoured by the Spanish Sporting Council.
The 1999 500cc World Champion, received the accolade along with a list of top level Spanish sportsmen, including rally driving ace Carlos Sa'inz, and that super-low heartbeat cycling bloke Miguel Indurain.
Two-stroke smoking ace retired in 2000, after suffering several serious crashes, one of which mangled Criville's hand. He was also diagnosed with a mystery illness which made the racer prone to fainting.
And you don't need that at the end of the main straight at Mugello!
