MICHAEL RUTTER’S woes at the Snetterton round of the British Superbike championship began in the final couple of superpole qualifying sessions, as the time ticked down on the second session, Rutter headed back out on track after pitting for a suspension tweak but as he headed down pit-lane his brakes showed signs of a problem and he stopped before getting out on track.

The session was stopped shortly afterwards when the rain came down, but on closer inspection of the brakes on the Worx Crescent Suzuki is was found that some blue tape (most likely off the edge of a visor tear-off) had been picked up and found its way onto a front brake disc. The tape fused under the extreme heat into an incredibly-hard sheer lump that had to be chipped off the disc later.

Before the troubles with the brakes and the weather Rutter was just 0.2s off pole man Camier’s time. After them he was left on the fourth row of the grid.
