BSB: Relentless Suzuki prepare for Knockhill

Laverty laps just outside Knockhill's Superbike lap record in preparation for the next round of the BSB championship

THE RELENTLESS Suzuki TAS British Superbike team has been out in testing action at Knockhill, ahead of the next round of the domestic championship in a week and a half's time.

Superbike rider Michael Laverty was joined by the team's Supersport rider Ian Lowry and Cameron Donald on the Superstock machine. Laverty spent most of the day refining the set up on his Relentless Suzuki, but also rode Donald's road race version. The Toomebridge rider ended his day just under a second outside the current superbike lap record, a record that was set before the current control tyre rules were brought in at the start of 2008.

Donald used the test session to familiarise himself with the track, completing over 80 laps of the Fife circuit, putting in laps on his GSX-R1000 Superstock machine and his FIM specification GSX-R1000 superbike in preparation for the forthcoming Ulster Grand Prix on August 14/15/16.

Lowry matched his best ever times at the Knockhill circuit and also had his first ever run on a full-blown superbike.

Team boss Philip Neill said: "The test gave the lads a chance to not only prepare for Knockhill, but for the first time this season we've been able to use all three riders in the development of our supersport and superbike machinery. We achieved significant results in the test with a number of comparisons being performed, and although Michael's superbike has a more complex electronics package than Cameron's, we are very pleased with our findings."
