MSS Colchester Kawasaki completed a successful test at Snetterton today (Thursday 4th June). The team, accompanied by electronics’ experts from Magneti Marelli Competition Systems, used the time to iron out all the teething bugs in the ZX-10R's engine management system.

Simon Andrews completed 102 laps of the circuit on both his Marelli bike and kit bike in order to compare data. Despite a fall at Russell’s Chicane, Andrews and the team made great strides, pinpointing problems and systematically eliminating them.

Now the more powerful Magneti Marelli-equipped ZX-10R has the full rider-aid package of anti-spin, anti-wheelie and launch control, something the riders and team have craved since the start of the season.

The test also allowed the team to gain crucial set-up data before the next round of the Visk.com British Superbike Championship at the Norfolk track on June 21st.

Nick Morgan, Team Owner

‘That’s it - we’re firing on all four now. We’ve identified the source of all the fun and games we’ve been having, rectified it and done a lot of work on fine-tuning the system. To be honest we should really have been doing this in March but things came together so late we had no choice. This is such an important next step in the ZX-10R’s development, I’m genuinely excited about the remaining races.’

Simon Andrews, Rider

‘That was a lot of laps but it’s been a really constructive test in a number of respects. My wrist and arse are sore after my off but it’s nice to have achieved something positive to ease the pain on the way home.’
