Anstey cracks 133mph average at Ulster GP

Kiwi ace stuns Irish crowd with blistering lap on GSX-R1000

RELENTLESS Suzuki racer Bruce Anstey recorded an astonishing 133.977mph average lap speed in the final race of the Ulster Grand Prix on his TAS prepped GSX-R1000.

Kiwi Anstey piloted the GSX-R around the 7.4 mile circuit, smashing the previous record in front of a 30,000 strong-crowd.

Talking about his amazing lap record Anstey said, "I knew the Relentless Suzuki by TAS GSX-R1000 was fast, but even I didn't think we could go this quickly. We finished second in the opening race which was a little disappointing, so I got my head down in the final Superbike race and pushed as hard as I could. It was a close battle, but we took the win and proved that the GSX-R1000 is the fastest, which is especially nice during the 25th anniversary year".

It was some ride, that last superbike win for Anstey. The shortened race (5 laps from the planned seven, due to a scrap amongst some spectators on the start finish straight) looked like a clean two-way battle between Hutchinson on his Padgett's Fireblade and hard-riding Keith Amor on his near-stock BMW S1000RR.

Amor and Hutchinson started to distance the rest of the chasing pack by half distance but Anstey's last lap was a blinder as he closed the gap and made a ruthless pass for the lead into the hairpin and held it to the line. Cliffhanger - pretty much like every race that day.

antimagneto

What was the spectator scrap about btw?

Spoke with those who went, who I might add are pretty good club racers themselves, and they were amazed at the pace and the danger. Well done every finisher....

GottaHurt

It was the usual Norn Iron racemeet scrap .. It appears that someone was accused ( in the wrong ) of being too sober ....
