MULTIPLE AMA Superbike Champion Mat Mladin has spoken out against's the AMA's decision to allow Buell's new 1125RR in the Association's production Superbike series - hinting that Hitler would be proud of their actions.
Mladin is furious at the decision to allow the £24,000 machine into the series, as the custom-built racer is only available to AMA licence holders. Members of the public cannot purchase the machine; something Mladin believes flies in the face of a true production superbike series.
"AMA/DMG have broken so many of their own rules this wknd. The Buell is just 1 in a long list. Yamahas own rules also. Hitler wld b proud," said Mladin on his Twitter page.
“I don’t care if the Buell wins or comes 20th, the bottom line is it’s not legal for superbike racing. It’s a custom-built race bike. There’s none registered. Nobody can buy any and register them on the road and isn’t that part of the rules?”
The AMA defended their position: “The machine is an 1125RR based on the 1125R that went through the homologation process that our rulebook mandates that all bikes would have to go through, and that it's approved to race this weekend.”
