YAMAHA is looking to capture 10 per cent market-share in the lucrative Indian motorcycle market by 2012, a company executive has said.
"Our aim is to capture 10 per cent share in the Indian motorcycle market by 2012. For that we will make substantial investment in launching new models," India Yamaha Motor CEO Yukimine Tsuji told reporters at the country's 10th Auto Expo.
Yamaha is also aiming to increase its market share in the 150cc motorcycle segment to 25 per cent by the end of this year. The company's share in the ever-popular sector currently stands at 15 per cent.
At the 2010 Auto Expo, Yamaha India launched the 2010 YZF-R1 superbike its baby brother the YZF-R15. The 2010 YZF-R1 was ridden onto the stage by bollywood heartthrob and avid biker, John Abraham.
Yamaha was the first company to launch a full range of high-performance motorcycles in India.
