Westminster replaces defaced parking bay signs

London pavements remain covered in lethal sheet ice as council choose to fight back

FOLLOWING the news earlier this week that a number of London bikers have been deliberately 'modifying' Westminster Council parking bay charge signs, in order to avoid paying the recently-introduced parking charge, Council subcontractors have been spotted cleaning and replacing damaged motorbike parking bay signs.

Workermen wearing hi-viz safety gear cleaned or replaced signs that had been defaced or removed.

In a recent Freedom of Information requested by anti-parking bay campaigners, Westminster said this about the estimated costs:

“There is no accurate way of calculating these costs, and I am sure you can appreciate only estimates can be given. I can; however, advise that it is possible to fix 10 sites a day/50 per week, and the weekly charge for this is £2784.76.”

“I can confirm that each change of use sign is £38.05 and each department for transport sign (large top sign) is £75.38.“

Determined to replace the parking charge signs as soon as possible, with a view to raking in more cash, the Council have neglected to take care of many of Westminster’s pavements. Campaigners say many of the area's walkways remained ungritted, despite being covered in sheet ice.

So they're saying that we need to deface more than 10 signs a day if we're going to stay on top of this problem...?

If just one person who parks in each bay took a fat black marker pen with them and obliterated the bay location number on the lower sign - Westminster council would be f*cked. A team would have to be sent out to clean the sign or replace it. That costs them over £100. There are approximately 600 bays in Westminster = £60,000 A DAY to run the scheme; untenable.

But, people don't want to get involved, they love it when someone else goes out at night and risks their neck but they haven't the cojones to do it themselves. Much easier to just pay the £1, keep your nose clean and take it up the arse from the man.

The time for talking is over!

Get a pen , get some paint, wipe out these signs or it won't just be Westminter that will shaft you in the wallet every day!
(and don't think it will stay at £1 for long!)

Every council in the country is watching this.
They all need money and they will take it from you unless you stop this NOW!

If one person gets caught doing this, then it may become untenable for them. Criminal record, lost job potentially,no money to pay the mortgage, or feed the wife & kids, repossesed house, lost cars, bikes etc.

Or £1 a day, seems like a simple equation to me when you look at it that way.
