Two 125mph trikes undergo month-long trial with Sussex plod
KEEP AN EYE in your mirrors if you're riding in West Sussex because the county's Police force has taken delivery of two new 125mph Can-Am Spyder three-wheelers.Boasting a 0-60mph acceleration of just 4.5 seconds, the brace of trikes has been loaned to West Sussex Police as part of a month-long trial. The machines have been supplied by Collison Recreational Limited, who claim the three-wheelers are safer than traditional motorbikes; the Spyder can also be ridden with just a car licence."With the unusual design of two wheels at the front, they are just far superior than ordinary motorbikes for safety," supplier Adrian Yeomans told the Daily Mail."In terms of stability, when you go around a corner on one of these it is virtually impossible to flip them or fall off."Sergeant Tony Crisp, of Sussex Police, said "They help police officers engage with motorcyclists and young drivers. They ask questions about them and we talk to them about road safety."
