A VAN driver found guilty of death by dangerous driving after he hit a motorcyclist head-on has been told he faces a jail sentence.

Ian Fleig, 47, of Lingfield Drive, Worth, was found guilty of death by dangerous driving unanimous jury verdict last week, after his Mercedes Sprinter van hit motorcyclist Nicholas Awcock in a head-on collision. Fleig was driving his van on the wrong side of the road.

Despite Fleig's defence describing him as a "level headed, intelligent and a family man", Judge Margaret Bowron told Mr Fleig to expect a prison term for the offence, when he's sentenced on January 16.

Hope he get 10 years

Whatever happened to prevention is better than cure?. I never witness the Police deal with drivers who tailgate, leave their rear fog lights on when it rains, pull out of junctions and overtake while expecting overs to swerve and brake, throwing rubbish out of their window while driving, have broken or missing mirrors, who drive along on or over the cats-eyes, leaving their high-beam on when dark, etc, etc. The Police only seem to deal with speeding, because it is easy and gets them results, but it still leaves the stupid, arrogant and inconsiderate to wreck innocent lives with bad driving.

brilec

A friend of mine was killed in a head on while riding his bike a few weeks ago. He was approaching a right hand bend, and a white van was coming the other way, both correctly positioned, and another biker overtook the van and hit my mate head on. Mate killed, other in hospital.

So what should his fate be?
