Worldwide increase in cost of raw materials set to dictate motorcycle price rise
HONDA and Yamaha told a joint news conference in the States this week that they are considering raising domestic prices of certain models to cover higher raw materials costs.
"Price hikes across the board will be difficult in Japan, but we are considering (increases) for certain products," said Honda managing director Tatsuhiro Oyama. Kawasaki has already solidified plans to lift prices on all models sold in Japan and the U.S.
The price revisions are expected to coincide with model changes and new releases at the end of this year.
Domestic shipments of motorcycles to the USA slid to 264,309 units in the January-June period, down 22.1 per cent on the year.
Let's hope we don't catch the American financial cold with regards to motorcycle prices over here.
