A 45-YEAR OLD man from Kansas died after he was struck by lightning while riding his motorcycle with friends.

The victim was with six other motorcyclists who are members of the Bikers Against Child Abuse group. A man riding next to the victim was treated and released shortly afterwards with minor injuries. The other five members of the group were not injured.

Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig said the motorcyclists were returning home after visiting some children they had helped in the past in their work against child abuse. He called the man's death a "tragic, sad thing."

"Cowboy" had spent the day doing what he loved, visiting children, and riding his bike.  He was a 6'4" cowboy and biker, but he got down on his knees to play with the children we work with.  He would blow bubbles with them, or play with their toys with them.  He would have gladly given his life for any of them.  Visit www.bacausa.com to find out more about Bikers Against Child Abuse, and what this wonderful man stood for.

Zub,

Congradulations, you win the insensitivity of the year award.  People are mourning the lose of a brother and friend, preparing for a funeral, and you have to be a total ASS about it.

woah! ok i think that came out wrong.

what i was trying to say is that sometimes you can take all the precautions in the world but sometimes its just your time to go. i was just saying this seems like one of those situations!

Zub,

Wrong? wrong? Why stop where you did? Obviously you dont know where to stop. Why not add 'paedophile' and 'divine intervention' to your damning, insensitive, lowdown post?

You are a sick sick puppy

Zub, you disapoint me

Sorry to hear the mans dead.

Can't get my head round hairy arsed Bikers acting as Chaperones/ Bouncers for abused kids though. I've read the website about the protection measures in place but still think that the chance to be close to vulnerable Children will appeal too greatly to the wrong sort (and struggle to find the appeal for right minded hairy arsed bikers) Is it not sufficient to provide fundraising and let the authorities / support Charities with properly trained staff do the dirty work?

'Chief noted that safe children are more capable of telling the truth because the threats made by an abuser are offset by the presence of dedicated bikers that have now become family.'

Cant see how having Mungo the 20 stone 6'6 Greaser, stopping the threat of violence to a vulnerable child with inferred violence against the Perpetrator will help in the long term recovery and development of any impressionable youngster.

POST

Hmmm. the news of cowboys passing is very sad, although i did not know this man, i do know alot of people that did. i live in K.C  Missouri and can say that we riders in this area are very strong and we do our best to watch out for each other. The storms that were rolling across Kansas that afternoon were very intense and rapidly moving across the state as they tend to do in this area. I'm sure that there was very little time to react to the storms danger. but we need to stay smart in all types of weather, it's hard to out run nature on I-70 or any of the subsidary county roads in this area.....there is only one thing semi-good that i can find in this tragic event and that would be, 3 other motorcyclist have died here in the past 2 weeks alone, these deaths were caused by careless drivers that could have prevented their accidents,Thus leaving the biking community very mad... IT's no ones careless fault, just an unfortunate event. it's hard to seek revenge on mother-nature...

P.S. Long live B.A.C.A.....with my sincere regards...R.I.P "COWBOY"
