Travis Pastrana enters ROC

Backflip King to take on F1 stars

Motocross legend Travis Patsrana has signed-up for this year’s Race of Champions in Dussledorf. The American has been out of action since shattering his ankle in a bike crash at July’s X-Games – but he will be fit for the ROC held at the Esprit Arena in December

The youngest-ever freestyle motocross world champion at the age of 14, Pastrana has picked up an impressive range of silverware both on bikes and in cars. He has four Rally America titles and 11 gold medals from the X-Games, where he wowed the crowds as the first rider to perform the double backflip. Pastrana also holds the record for the longest ever jump in a car over water.

The Race Of Champions is an annual end-of-season competition that brings together the world’s greatest drivers and riders from all motorsport’s disciplines – including Formula 1, world rally, touring cars, Le Mans and the X-Games – and pitches them head-to-head in identical machinery on a specially constructed parallel track.

So far, six drivers have been confirmed for ROC 2011, including F1 drivers Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button.
