The 175mph electric bike – yeah, right...

It's not even a bike, it's a scooter. Watch out for Grannys pulling up next to your R1 at the traffic lights..

MAYBE he’s been on the beer, or maybe he was just overly-excited when promoting his new electric motorcycle but the American Electric Vehicle Company Chief Officer Bill Kent told a TV audience that his firm’s Volta G/T scooter thing would do 175mph.

Kent said: “Performance wise, this bike will do zero to 50 in about 4.5 seconds. In the series you have top ends that range from about 120 to 175 miles per hour."

Bloody hell, that is quick. Yeah, and - with apologies to Wayne’s World - monkeys might fly out of our butts .

Big Nige

To be fair, some electric motors can put out huge amounts of torque and so could pull huge gearing to get a decent top speed.

Not sure about doing 175 on a scooter but I'm sure the physics would be possible.

forestcreature

he meant kph i think - elsewhere i've read that there'll be a performance/economy switch, where the performance option is good for about 70mph

Gedge - Why are you talking about your arse in your signature block?

Posted: 13/05/2008 at 18:05

gedge

It says.."Your face ..my arse"

AC

Gedge,

Tuo faccia mio culo - is 'Your face my arse'.

What yours says is 'You dear, my arse'. Which sounds like you've promised something to a boyfriend.

.... but hey! it's a big world and there's room enough for all tastes. I know some nice blokes who are a bit gay (not well of course).

Sorry, couldn't resist. I worked in an office in Madrid and didn't speak Spanish. The guys kept calling me tonto and I thought they were being friendly and it was related to the Lone Ranger so I called them Kemo Sabbe.

After a week someone told me ......

No offence intended.
