Tesco get in on motorcycle insurance
Supermarket giant guarantee they'll find you the best priced insurance deal. Sounds good, too good?
Tescocompare.com, the comparison site, has launched a motorbike insurance comparison service. The comparison site has extended its online comparison service, which now offers consumers the opportunity to compare the motorbike insurance market with deals from 22 brokers.
Uniquely, Tescocompare.com is offering a price-promise to UK motorcyclists who are aged 19 or over and who spend £75 or more on their premium - guaranteeing that the quote provided by Tescocompare.com is the cheapest available. Customers who believe they can get a cheaper quote elsewhere can call Tescocompare.com for free on 0800 089 8018, and Tescocompare.com guarantees it will beat the price.
The new comparison channel is also offering free legal cover worth £25 to any motorcyclist who requests a quote, even if they don't end up buying their policy through Tescocompare.com.
Matthew Dransfield of Tescocompare.com said: "Everyone is trying to make their money go that extra mile in the credit crunch. Our customers expect great deals from Tescocompare.com and we're delighted to offer our new motorbike insurance comparison service to them. We offer motorcyclists a guarantee that we can find them the best priced insurance deal for their needs.
"Our motorbike insurance comparison service allows consumers to search the market place for the best insurance deals by comparing product features on a like for like basis. It also offers tips on how to lower insurance premiums and enables motorcyclists to search for quotes on all levels of cover.
"We are delighted to be able to extend the services offered through Tescocompare.com and aim to continue building a comprehensive comparison service for our customers

thats why sometimes its best to pay a bit more for a much better insurance company. Wise words for a 16 year old
Tesco have been doing this for quite a while - they've simply put a different skin on www.thebikeinsurer.com.uk and branded it as Tesco. The prices will be slightly different to reflect slightly differing commission arangements. Tesco car insurance is the same, the website is Direct Lines with a different colour "skin" on the website. it was foundd as a joint venture between teh 2 insurers until Tesco recently bought out Direct Lines share, as part of the RBS refinancing attempts due to the credit crunch.

Indeed. But the difficult bit is determining whether your extra money is going to get you better service, or if it's just going to be more expense for the same shit service.

Tesco are just doing what all other brokers are doing but due to their clout can reduce the premiums. The service in the event of the claim will be just as good/bad as the underwriters will be the same. Me on my blade Bennets £189 with Highway Tesco £109 with Highway

Which is fine, for those that don't want the bells and don't want to pay for them.

If it means cheaper insurance, then I'm all for it. I've never made an insurance claim (on my own insurance at least), so can't comment on service. All I want is the cheapest insurance I can get.

I have an ongoing claim at the moment, and the problems are with the 3rd party's insurer. The other guy admited full liability, and the police even made him attend a course for dangerous driving, so there is no doubt as to who is to blame. I must admit that my insurance company has been very helpfull, and their legal team is doing all that they can, but if the other company wants to play the cnut then there is not alot that even the best insurers can do. The only consolation is that whilst they are arguing over a £26 travel receipt, the hire bike is costing them £90 a day .
