As a manufacturer you'd have thought a cheapish 650cc bike probably isn't a bad thing to have in your range, but the way Suzuki is going, there won't be space for anything else in its showrooms.
The firm has just reintroduced the half-faired SV650S – the bike that's closest in spirit to the original, decade-old SV650.
Back then, there weren't many alternatives, but now Suzuki has (deep breath): three versions of the V-Strom 650, two Bandit 650s, two SV650s, the GSX650F and the Gladius; nine bikes, all with similar performance and prices. Still, of the lot, the SV650S is probably the most tempting, if only because it's the cheapest of all at £4999.
