Supercharged 90bhp 100kg Cagiva Mito

200cc, supercharged ... respect

CAGIVA'S MITO was hardly a dull motorcycle. The rev-happy Mito was the holy-grail of motorcycles for teenagers the world over. But it wasn't special enough for Simone Barbagallo.

The Italian has spent over £40,000 building this bike. We can see it's finished off well but we're struggling to see how you can sink that much cash.

Barbagallo initially started with a stock Mito. The engine produces 15bhp in restricted form, 30bhp de-restricted. The capacity was then increased to 200cc and a supercharger was bolted on for good measure. It also has NOS, for those moments where things get a little dull. All this in a 100kg package.

The Mito, dubbed 'The Scorpion' also features a myriad of trick parts from a lightweight single-sided swingarm and 17" Marchesini magnesium wheels to 50mm USD Marzocchi forks and carbonfibre bodywork.

So howcome Barbagallo spent so much on this bike? "An ant can sometimes defeat an elephant" says Barbagallo who reckons his bike take take on all-comers and is perfect for road-riding.

Good work fella!

An ant can defeat an elephant?  Has he taken a look at his Cagiva logo recently?

I bet it's pretty good to ride...

Not sure about taking on all comers though...maybe on very tight turns...and I bet it stops well...

90bhp per 100kg in incredible...even compared with 175bhp per 170kg of litre sportsbike...thats like 0.9 bhp per kilo compared with about 1bhp per kilo...

But stick on an average man (80kg?) and this becomes 0.5bhp per kilo whereas the litre sports only drops to 0.7bhp per kilo...

Complete waste of money if you ask me! This is more to show off at chav conventions than anything else...like a supercharged Nissan Micra.

Yeah...it looks like just about the worst road bike possible.

What litre sportsbike makes 175bhp and weights 170kg?

Posted: 19/06/2009 at 11:54

Lodonmun

I think the manufacturer quoted figures for a 2009 Fireblade are 170kg (dry) and 178bhp.

Gotcha, probably more like 200kg wet and 160 at the rear wheel. But anyway, it's not ust about numbers, it would be close...

Lodonmun

Agreed, but that Cagiva is probably more like 75 at the wheel (with NOS boost) and 130kg wet.

Surely a guy that proud of his bike would have given the crank/dry figures?

If that's a 100kg wet weight, then that would make it weigh about 70kg with no fuel, NOS or oil!

I think it would be close, on a very specific type of track. That 90bhp has got to be with the NOS boost on (or that guy is the world's best two stroke tuner), and being two stroke it would have a very narrow power band...the GSXR would knock the crap out of it everytime it had to drop below 48000 revs...or when the NOS ran out!

I think it would need a VERY skilled, very light rider...huge amount of NOS and a 15 speed gearbox to really run with a Blade...

And what about all those 2 stroke siezures. High tuned 2 smokers are ace fun but a feckin nitemare.

srad man sam

what a waste of money. you can have a desmo for that and that is a rare bike which is a shit load faster than a stupid unreliable stroker machine. power to weight ratios are nothing, im thinking he has about 5FTLBS of torque, nothing.

yes i do own a V twin hence the torque statement

he is italian though, look who they elected for president...........
