Steve Hislop...inquiry to start April 28th in Edinburgh
|
THE INQUIRY into the death of motorcycle racing legend Steve Hislop is set to start on 28th April, with a preliminary hearing taking place on 8th April.
The five-day hearing will now take place in Edinburgh, rather than the scheduled Jedburgh venue because of the effect it would have had on court business at Jedburgh, sources say.
The former British Superbike champion was flying alone from the Borders to Buckinghamshire when his Robinson R22 helicopter crashedt on 30th July 2003.
An Air Accident Investigation Branch report into the tragedy in 2005 said the accident was caused by the rotors striking the helicopter's boom.
However, it added that an aircraft malfunction "could not be eliminated".
