CAR manufacturer Smart, known for its dinky four-wheelers, is to unveil a new electric-powered scooter at the Paris motor show in September, it has been revealed.
The new machine is to figure in company's future line-up of environmentally friendly vehicles.
"Smart was originally established to tackle the need for improved mobility, especially in congested city environments. Up to now we have concentrated our efforts on four-wheel solutions. The next stage is to looking at how to expand beyond this with other environmentally friendly vehicles,” a senior Mercedes-Benz official revealed to Autocar magazine.
It's believed the new Smart scooter could be produced in a number of different factories around the world if a production go-ahead is granted.
Mercedes-Benz, parent company to Smart, has recently agreed a multi-million pound deal with German energy supplier ENBW, which will see a batch of dedicated charging stations in and around the city of Stuttgart.
