TWO previous convictions, no licence and now this. Are we too soft on repeat offenders?
AN UNLICENSED drink driver who killed motorcyclist in a head-on smash after downing six bottles of lager has been jailed for six years.Dimitri Desmond Wright, aged 35, was found guilty of causing the death of Steven Eames, 51, in September this year after ploughing his father's car into the path of the biker.
Wright had taken the vehicle without his father's consent.Sheffield Crown Court also heard Wright had two previous convictions for drink driving and has never held a driving licence. Sentencing Wright to six years in jail, Judge Alan Goldsack QC told Wright, of The Meads, Norton, he had shown "total disregard of the laws" and caused the death of "a patently good man".He said: "You were behind the wheel of a powerful motor car which you had no right to be driving. You did not have the permission of the owner, not least because he knew you had no insurance to drive. You have never held a full licence."And you were well over the drink-drive limit with alcohol in your body."That total disregard of the laws which apply to all motorists is something you have shown consistently over a number of years, with two previous convictions for driving over the prescribed limit."Wright was also ordered to take an extended test. Lifetime ban, anyone?

Lifetime ban, anyone?
He's never held a licence & has a total disregard for the law & safety of himself & others... what good would a ban do?

Lets give all of "them" slap in the hand, about 10 times. Then, when they kill somebody , judges will struck them with all they might giving them 6 years...hold on maybe its too harsh and community work will do ...ehh.
It shows how this laws and leniency does not work and it has to be somebody's tragedy before punishement comes. Pathetic...
It wiould add another 7,5 hours to his sentence if he kills somebody again :-/
Spineless judges

How do they come up with these stupid sentencess, if they had jailed him after his first offence this guy would still be alive, the law is just so soft or is it because there isnt enough room in the prisons....mind you if they made the jails like the ones in America, they would be plenty of room, 4 in a cell no tv etc

Did this waste of space get a driving ban? it doesn't say and reads like when he gets out in two years time he can take a test and get on with his life while Mr Eames family have to live with their sad lose.
Like Skoop said it should have be treated as premeditated murder.
