A Segway in action

THE BOSS of alternative two-wheel transportation company Segway has been killed in a freak accident while riding one of the hi-tech electric machines.

It's reported multi-millionaire Jimi Heselden died after losing control of one of the upright two-wheelers, while riding around his North Yorkshire estate.

Sources say Mr Heselden plunged off a cliff and into a river.

The 62-year-old bought the Segway firm in January this year.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said today: 'Police were called at 11.40am yesterday to reports of a man in the River Wharfe, apparently having fallen from the cliffs above on a Segway.'

Mr Heselden was pronounced dead at the scene.'

The multi-millionaire was an active charity fundraiser, having given away over £23m to a charity foundation he set up in 2008.
