Royal Enfield Bullet's 80th

Why go retro when you can have plain, old-fashioned old?

ROYAL ENFIELD is setting out to celebrate the Bullet's 80th anniversary this summer with an open weekend over the 23rd and 24th June.

Ye Olde Bullet has been around in one form or another since 1932, ending UK production after a mere 30 years back in 1962 but has remained in production in India, where it's been made since 1955, so there's been continuous production of the model since its introduction. Incredibly, it still sold some 70,000 last year, which must make Japanese firms with four-year model lifespans wonder if they're doing something wrong...

The celebrations are set to take place at the Watsonian-Squire works in Blockley, Gloucestershire, with free entry to all and test rides on the 'latest' models available provided you've brought both parts of your driving licence and some riding kit. See www.royal-enfield.com for updates.

Saw a bullet coming up the hill near me the other day and it was flying, and two up at that. They're just not great for top speed I suppose. Plenty of torque by the look of things, sound great as well.
Maybe I should book a test ride. ZZR's starting to bore me now..
