A MOTORCYCLIST involved in a five-bike pile-up on a track day which left one rider dead is to sue the organisers.
Bobby Khan, 42, was taking part in a No Limits track day at Oulton Park, Cheshire, when he rounded a corner at over 90mph and crashed into two bikes that had collided 40 seconds earlier.
A further two bikes were involved in the crash, which left a 52-year-old dead and two others, including Khan, seriously injured.
Father-of-four Khan was airlifted to hospital with serious head and spinal injuries, a broken pelvis, a fractured ankle and internal bleeding. The self-employed window tinter also suffered bruising to the brain and needed pins in his pelvis.
He was placed in an induced coma and spent nearly a month in hospital.
Khan had ridden regularly at Oulton Park for more than two years before the crash, on October 5 last year.
He believes the accident could have been avoided if the session had been red-flagged.
He has instructed solicitors to pursue civil action against the organisers No Limits and track owners MotorSport Vision.
Khan said: “The accident has turned everything on its head.
“Before, I had a pretty regular life working every day and coming home to my wonderful wife and children.
“However now I cannot go to work due to the physical problems caused by the crash which make it difficult to even do the little things like play with my kids.
“I am even having to use the money we had put away for the children just to pay the bills.
“I have also been suffering with flashbacks of the accident and I have problems sleeping at night.
“The whole thing has changed me as a person.”
Crispin Balmer, personal injury lawyer with Slater & Gordon, said: “As a rider he put his trust in the organisers and the marshals at the event but now feels this trust was misplaced and he has been badly let down.”
An MSV spokesman said: “There’s an ongoing investigation and it would be inappropriate to comment at this time.”
