Ricky Carmichael to star on Top Gear

US motocross legend makes star appearance on Britain's favourite motoring show

MOTOCROSS LEGEND Ricky Carmichael will feature on the hit BBC2 show Top Gear this Sunday 5th July at 8 pm.

Carmichael, one of the most successful American motocross racers of all time, rides his Suzuki motocross bike alongside US rally star Ken Block.

Whatever next? Valentino Rossi gets behind the wheel in 'Star in a reasonably priced car?'

Now that'd be something we'd all like to see.

Travis is now more known for his FMX stuff that his SuperX and rally driving days. Ricky used to be a Honda rider, but his last season was with Suzuki. I guess either of them would make good guests on TG though. Ricky is now heading into car racing on track, so that may be the TG link.

Wikipedia is pretty crap on Ricky. I used to watch SuperX late night on 5; especially around his transistion year from 125s to 250s. A bit like Rossi, he took over from the previous great (Jeremy McGrath was the Mick Doohan of the SuperX world) and is regarded as the GOAT for that sport.

Ricky used to make everything look so easy. When not leading from the front, he would strorm past everyone else - even giving cheeky nods to other riders as they blasted down a whoop seciton - bikes all corssed up; but Ricky going a lot straighter and a lot faster somehow.
Too bad he is not well known out of these circles (even if he does have name registered playstation games).

It'll be Ricky Carmichael as he, like Ken Block are both sponsored by Monster Energy drink.

I'm sure there will be some kind of advertising behind it.

Travis Pastrana is sponsored by Red Bull.

glad the guy survived, that looked awful. Given the dangerous nature of the stunt, would he and his team not usually know the surroundings,...
