Prince Harry goes pillion - Mamola style!

Bike mad royal gets the one-wheel treatment from former 500cc man

Prince Harry gets the Mamola treatment

PRINCE HARRY got more that he bargained for this weekend after the bike-mad Prince accepted a pillion ride from former Grand Prix 500 star Randy Mamola.

The Prince made a surprise visit to Sunday's British Grand Prix at Donington Park and was treated to a flying lap of the East Midlands-based circuit on the back of Ducati's 240bhp two-seater Desmosedici racer.

Conditions were damp as the Prince took to the track but that didn't stop Mamola, the clown prince of the 500cc Grand Prix era, hoiking the odd wheelie for his royal passenger.

Harry's brother, Prince William, was recently spotted at a highbrow polo match on a Ducati 1198S.

Mamola's antics haven't always been so successful; in the 1980s the American crashed while leading a race at Donington Park, after flipping a wheelie while showing off to the crowd.

I couldn't hear the commentary stood at McCleans corner but Randy came round there and lost the back end on saturday and threw both himself and the pillion out of the seat.  Randy even reached behind to tap his passenger on the leg!!!  Everybody cheered.  I wonder if that was the futre king or just a random rich kid.

None of the Donington commentators got access to the grid for interviews on Sunday - was that because pitlane access was restricted cos Harry and all his hangers on were in the pits? You'd like to think not.......

V-fun

Which of us wouldn't have taken-up the offer of this pillion ride if they had won it or had it offered to them?

It would be my luck that there would have been a height restriction and only a pair of 'small' leathers on offer....

Yep! I'm envious (But would still rather be the rider!).
