A POLICE officer is in critical condition following a crash on the A32 on Friday.

The 52-year old PC was riding his BMW R1200RT southbound on the A32 when he was in a collision with a green Citroen C5. The police officer was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Following the accident, the A32 was closed in both directions for three hours. A spokesman for Hampshire police said the policeman involved in the accident was on an 'unspecified training excercise'.

A man has been arrested but police are looking for further witnesses. You can call the Fratton Roads Policing unit on 101.

Clearly he wasn't wearing his hi-viz vest because as we know from the EU bureautwats they make all the difference and make you visible.

It's a dangerous road:

I wish the policeman a full recovery.

Hi viz clothing and a high viz bike still doesn't prevent careless drivers wiping you out, Take note Parliament!! Hope the rider recovers well.

Hope he recovers well and gets back to doing what bike cops do best - stopping crap car and van drivers. They're on our side!

Must have been speeding then. Isn't that the presumption of all causes of motorbike accidents.

Motorcycle cops on 'our side'? Really? Not what Ive what noticed buddy. Those guys where I'm from at least are a bunch of arseholes, worse than the car ones if anything. I hope he's not one and he's okay, sure, but let's not lose touch with reality here.

Some 'Bloke' on here talking about Morons........

Well based on what little information is known about what happened he is making a judgement / comment that only a true Moron could make !

Does that moron mcall have any details of what caused the accident or if this guy actually broke the law,I doubt it.Mr macall should get the facts of the accident before he puts that half-brain into action. Not all motorcyclists are anti-police I hope that the guy makes a full recovery soon.

Funny this i bet its the drivers fault as the rider was a police man. now i wonder would he of been arrested if it was you or me on the bike i think not. If a driver of a car, bus, truck or any other vehicle can not see a 200kg object with a person sitting on it no matter what the colour they should not be on the road and if this tit did not see a 300kg florecent object with a day glow rider on top of it they should have their licence shreaded for good. Only yesterday i had some tit bull across me forcing me to brake hard and i was in a 2 ton car with the head lights on so just rember lads and ladies YES evrey one else on the road is an arsehole and should be treated as such that way you might get home in one peice

I think Mr "Moron" McCall wants to remember that there's still a human being with worried sick next of kin under that uniform, if you think all coppers are morons try attending a bikesafe course!

I hope he recovers fully and if it was the fault of the driver pulling out or something, then I hope they throw the book at him/her.

Most police officers are arseholes and talk like thugs in uniform is a completely separate thing though, not to mixed up and forgotten in all of this.

As soon as he is fit, he is one of them again :)

Yes zx12ra1 your right. My Dad told me years ago to ride like every other road user is out to kill you & he was right - they are.

A POLICE biker hurt in a crash while on duty is ‘on the road to recovery’.

The 52-year-old PC was on a training exercise and was riding his motorbike southbound on the A32 towards Fareham when he collided with a Citroen C5 estate car near the Pook Lane junction.

He was transferred to Southampton General Hospital with serious head injuries following the crash.

Chief Inspector Cleave Faulkner, who leads Hampshire Constabulary’s Roads Policing Unit, yesterday wrote on social networking website Twitter: ‘Good news – Our officer involved in the A32 crash last Friday is on the road to recovery, thanks for all your best wishes.’

Chief Constable Alex Marshall tweeted after the crash happened at about 1.40pm on Friday: ‘Thoughts with my officer badly injured while on motorcycle training course today.

‘The whole force wishes you a speedy recovery.’

The A32 was shut on both directions between North Hill and Knowle Road and the M27 at juction 10 was also shut in both directions after the accident happened.

The 56-year-old Fareham man who was driving the Citroen C5 was arrested on suspicion of careless driving but later bailed until January pending further inquiries.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Fratton Roads Policing Unit on 101 on 0845 0454545 quoting Operation Halsey.

Alternatively call the Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
