Police make U-turn on fuel price protest route

Protesters denied city ride at Cardiff demonstration

A MASS of motorcycle riders taking part in a fuel protest ride along a section of the M4 motorway claims that police stopped them using an agreed route when it came to the ride itself.

Around 80 riders met-up at Pont Abraham near Swansea. The leader of the ride out says that they had agreed with police for 20 bikers out of the group to travel into Cardiff city centre but were stopped from going into the city centre by officers.

South Wales Police said they were stopped after failing to tell officers which riders were going into the city. A spokeswoman for the ride-out known as Hamster (not the dwarf from Top Gear - Ed), from the Welsh Bikers group told BBC Wales: "We had informed the police of what we were doing and on the day agreed with an officer from South Wales Police that around 15 to 20 riders out of the protest would be allowed to ride into the city centre, go past the castle and come back out.

“I even shook hands with the officer to make that deal before we set off.

"It was very disappointing and to be honest people who took part in the protest have completely lost faith in the police. We thought if we were open with the police and told them what we were planning to do they would be fair to us. But they weren't."

A spokesman for South Wales police said: "South Wales Police agreed for a number of riders to go into Cardiff city centre in order to facilitate their peaceful protest on the condition they informed us of the nominated riders in advance.

"This they failed to do.”

susprised they never used the health and safety excuse... or the anti terrorism legislation.... and the "it's for their own safety"

There has been a party in Torbay been advertised on facebook.. A rave on the beach. The local filth are doing the usual and going over the top...there was some copper on the jeremy vine show today sounding like a complete nazi..the worst sort of pig..one who believes that this is a police state and as he is in the uniform so therefore he MUST BE RIGHT!!

Best of it was apart from one sad act who reckoned it was "his beach" everybody else who phoned in were in agreement to let it go ahead...and they were all from Torbay. One even admitted that the town was dying on it's feet and had been for years... and it was about time the place livened up again.

So I am not surprised that the police stopped twenty riders going into cardiff. The next time get two hundred riders and just fucking ride in anyway....

Sneaky , that sounds like our Gedge you are describing

Seriously though the Lothian and borders police were great at the Scottish fuel demo at the weekend but of course they aren't ruled by the maniacal mad mullah.
