Police hunt for speed camera bomber

Hampshire Police seek irate motorist over town centre explosion

HAMPSHIRE POLICE are hunting an irate motorist who blew up a roadside speed camera with a bomb.

Residents of Eastleigh were woken up by the sound of an explosion in the early hours of Christmas Eve, Police have said

The force is now trying to track down the culprit, checking CCTV in the area in an attempt to identify the bomber.

Hampshire Police's acting Chief Inspector, Kelly Whiting, said: 'This is totally irresponsible behaviour by whoever committed this offence.

'There could have been a potential risk to passers-by although this was minimised by the time of the incident.

'There was a risk to the nearby petrol station and the attack could have had serious consequences.'

Who ever you are, well done for fighting back at the establishment which seeks to milk us for every penny we've got (and expects us to keep handing it over without question). We all know these cameras are no longer about safety, but about raising cash and oppressing the electorate. What a scam!!

There's a massive difference between speeding safely and speeding in dangerous conditions - these ubiquitious cameras can't tell the difference!

We, the citizens of the UK, have had enough of being milked non-stop, especially the motorists & Bikers, who have been practically demonised.

My good man, keep up the good work! Your name wouldn't happen to be "V" by any chance, would it?

 Bravo.

As long as no one gets hurt let them burn..

quote "V"

I know you may never forgive me... but nor will you understand how hard it was for me to do what I did. Every day I saw in myself everything you see in me now. Every day I wanted to end it, but each time you refused to give in, I knew I couldn't.

A good start I say.  Perhaps we could have one a day?  Be careful lads.  As you may know, the state has installed cameras to watch over the Gatsos.  Always wear a mask.   I recommend the Tony Hilary one for maximum effect.

OK, OK, use a Tony Blair mask for all I care.

Brilliant. I wish I had the bottle to blow a couple up myself. If I knew who the culprit was, i'd pat them on the back and buy them a pint.

worthydolt

Well done.

The camera is clearly in a built-up area where speeeding's most dangerous.

And does anyone think that the Police will say "Ooh, we didn't realise cameras were unpopular. We won't replace it."? Or will the taxpayer will have to buy a new camera and pay for the police to try to catch whoever blew this one up.

Do you want free air fare to Australia ? We got a million of them over here you can blow up if you like...Revenue raising low life governments...Our red light cameras, speed cameras, laser guns, aeroplanes and helicopter  assholes haven't done a thing to save lives..Our road toll is up mega higher than last year and the year before...Have they ever thought that maybe there is alot more people on the roads these days and all the overseas imports that they have bought into our countries who have absolutely no idea how to drive..

I dont mind getting booked if i have done something wrong but it is just getting out of control now...Then i have to watch these bullshit commercials telling us how they are saving lives...Government wankers..It's ok for them they have drivers that pick them up and drive them wherever they want to go and dont have to worry about getting booked besides getting free rego, free petrol and every other perk that these tossers get...Good on ya whoever you are..Your a bloody legend...

visted Scotland over Christmas, as soon as you enter the country there is a big WELCOME to SCOTLAND, then after 100m there is a speed camera!

How irresponsible? Passers by? In the early hours of the morning? Was there a crowd watching then?

He's got a point though, look how dangerously close that tree is, could have created havoc with the environmentalists.

Do think taking an angle grinder to the post would have been alot easier?

And the nearby petrol station 2 miles down the road was at risk too don't forget lol

Crimbo eve, mmmhh..... anyone see a guy in a red suit in the area around the time in question?

My money's on someone local who recently got a NIP dropped through the letterbox, good on them!!!!

Just dont tell the Scotts what it is as it may upset them.

Am not so sad about this but there are better cameras to target in Hampshire I think. This one is near a dodgy junction where cars do tend to pull out without looking properly.

Fantastic Great New Years Present - just might be simpler for all Bikers and come to think of it all motor vehicle users just to remove their number plates.

srad man sam

i do often think of shooting them with my rifle. dam - cant do that now, im a suspect.

theres one in particular, got me once! pieces of shit. they cost us £40000 to buy, and another x amount a year in fees?  insurance premiums? cost of postage of tickets? cost of monitoring? cost of maintenance? stupid things. i say blow them all up! or cut em down with an angle grinder, might be easier than complex pyrotechnics.

At least in the UK you have signposts mariking the location of the fookas. Over here in NZ they are a dull grey or pale cream colour and hard to spot when you are doing a fair old clip. No road markings or signs or warnings - just a bill in the post. Scotch Pies are good for speed cameras too - cover the lens with the pie as you pass by - sticky enough to stick to the lens if yer aim is right.
