Police hunt another stupid YouTube biker

150mph Brit biker wanted by police after posting video showing 13 miles of ton-plus speeding

Posted: 16 April 2008
by Visordown News

LET’S be realists here – we all speed. It’s part and parcel of being a modern motorcyclist, but to film yourself doing it then posting on YouTube is about as stupid as it’s possible to get.

And so it is that police are hunting a biker who weaved between traffic at almost 150mph and then posted the footage on the internet, probably as some sort of compensation for something.

Officers from Sussex Police have begun an investigation to find the rider who filmed himself travelling 13 miles on the A27 from Shoreham to Lewes in just eight minutes.

The shocking YouTube video, which has a rock music soundtrack, shows the racing past other vehicles at speeds of up to 147mph on his CBR600. Sussex Police road policing unit casualty reduction officer Sergeant Paul Masterson said: "We are hoping to identify and deal with this particular rider. We are treating this very seriously because it is a ludicrous piece of riding on a busy main road."

Lewes MP Norman Baker said: "I hope the police identify him and prosecute. It is irresponsible to do double the national speed limit along any road."

So you’ve wound up the cops and got another MP to mouth off about how bad we all are. If you’re reading this, mystery biker – you’re a bloody moron.

I couldn't agree more. It would be easy for this government to clamp down so hard that it would ruin all bikers fun. We should all be going about our biking fun as far out of the public eye as possible, not posting it on the bleedin web. nob.

I agree with most of this.. the guy is clearly a nob who reflects very badly on the whole community... just hope the police and people of Sussex see that its just the individual at fault.

Dont know about trying to keep as far as possible out of the public eye.... It pays to be visible sometimes, especially when a positive image of bikers is given or if there is a good point to be made..

Execute the bastard!!!!

The full weight of the criminal justice system should be thrown behind this hunt for the mystery biker, because he is bound to have a job and will be able to pay a big fine!

Where as the 100's of youtube vids where local chavs are beating up innocent bystanders, torching bus shelters and generally annoying the living crap out of the average person, will just be dismissed as it's not as fun as making big headlines with a relatively easy pull.

Although a tool, lets have equal justice dished out for all the wrong doings posted on youtube, rather than undergoing a witch hunt for one guy.

 Perspectives?

Agreed you should try to get one or keep one

What are the police to say when this is brought to their attention? of course they will try to find him, although I doubt that A) they will try very hard or that B) they will NEED to try very hard..if the nob drops himself in it when interviewed then serves him right...you might want to check how many Youtube motoring offenders have been prosecuted compared to the number of youtube muggers, bullies and assorted criminals before spouting off..

Care to enlighten me then Gedge with your far superior knowledge of offenders caught on youtube, due to their criminal activity?

Not particularly..you raised the spectacle of police hunting only bikers...I am sure the BBC will reveal some of the many assaults and damages that have been carried out..Google is your friend

I'd like to know what the relevance 'Rock music playing' has to do with this? Using antiquated and ridiculous prejudices to sell the journo's story is not something i'd have expected from Visordown. Really poor... Rant over Balls

Speedy.

Too many laws, to many rules to much nannying, so what if one person does a ton plus, the police will go looking for him, the government got no justification for doing anything to other riders.

Fuck the government, and fuck do gooders.

Last week a woman was fined £1000 AND BANNED FROM DRIVING AFTER PULLING INTO THE PATH OF AN OVERTAKING MOTORCYCLIST ON THE A458 NEAR WELSHPOOL KILLING HIM.WITNESSES SAY THE MOTORCYCLIST WAS RIDING SENSIBLY.

NO DOUBT IF CAUGHT AND PROSECUTED THIS SPEEDING MOTORCYCLIST WILL FACE PRISON.

EQUITABLE , I DONT THINK SO.

I couldn't agree with you more T509 Speedy, but the government does what they want as you probably know and use all kinds of bullshit for their justification. I reckon if you like speeding, fine, but don't display to England that we are a bunch of irresponsible hooligans and give the government excuses to "crack down" on bikers and make it harder for us to have fun!

Totally.

... but having done it, and filmed his 'heroics'... I think there's an [egotistical] human urge to share it. Restraint's obviously not a personal virtue here.

He deserves anything that's coming.

Volunteers to join the firing squad. Plus I can bring a several thousand miners quite a lot of british steel staff and I do believe that a few Rover staff may attend also.
