The scene where the motorcycle officer died

A TRAFFIC OFFICER was killed yesterday in West London after being hit and then run over by a Volkswagen Passat.

The accident happened at 9.30pm yesterday on the A40 in Perivale, West London. Police said the Police Constable, based with the Traffic Operational Command Unit (OCU), had finished work and was making his way home on his own Yamaha TDM900 motorcycle when the collision occurred.

Witness reports say the Volkswagen smashed into the motorcycle, knowing the rider over the bonnet, where he was then dragged under the car. The Volkswagen then mounted the kerb and where the driver left it and fled the scene, leaving two passengers in the car.

Police have arrested three suspects in Barnet and are questioning them on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The scene was cordened off until late last night where forensic experts were analysing the spot where the off-duty officer died.

An inquiry is underway by officers from Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) at Hampton. Any witnesses can contact them on 020 8941 9011. If you wish to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

ashame and waste of a life, the driver should be hung,if not work in a hospital sewing back all road traffic accidents, explaining to families there loved ones are not coming back, and by that he too is a killer.

RIP mate...

My thoughts are with the family left behind.  Shocking way to end a life, and I hope the Courts make an example of the driver....put inside and throw the key away.

I have a lot of time for the Biker Police, and they don't deserve to lose a vital member of the team.

God Bless and RIP    Grand Visier.

RIP,theres a lot of people driving who would not be bothered by killing a biker if they could get away with it...

Posted: 28/04/2009 at 12:30

What a horrible waste of life. My thoughts go out to the dead officer and his family.

I just hope they catch the driver soon. RIP.

This is such a upsetting and distrubbing story that makes you think that we really need to bring back some sort of proper punishment - like hanging and flogging. If not at least make prisoners work hard for no money, if they refuse - don't let them out. Or put them on a deserted Island away from decent people. Don't allow them luxuries like: internet, gym, tv and decent food - which most normal decent working people would shruggle to have.

Prayers for the Officer and his family & friends.

RIP fella,keep on riding

a waste of live like this is never going to be solved by the courts

anybody convicted of these sort of crimes should get minimum 10yrs and every minuite spent in solitary to be able to reflect on the chaos theyve caused, and a complete ban on driving for the rest of their lives they dont deserve to be on the road if they are careless enough to kill someone

Cases like this can take a long long time.

I have dealt with 3 fatals, including 2 motorbikes and 1 car ( I have attended about 12 fatals) and know that they can take about 10 months (or more) before they are finalised. So wouldnt be surprised if the investigation has not been completed yet.

It is quite close to my heart this, as i am a traffic cop, and often go to work on the Mille.
