GET ready for the Christmas rush because this computer character from Sony is set to be bigger than the Mario character, and he's even got an Evel Knievel persona.
Video games giant Sony is pushing ‘Sackboy’ as their defining mascot for the Noughties - and he’s British. The Japanese computer giants, who are pumping millions into the character, reckon every kid in the world will want their own virtual one in the next few months.
Tiny firm Media Molecule, which operates with just 25 staff in Guildford, Surrey, created Sackboy.
“It’s fair to say that Nintendo has got Super Mario and Sega had Sonic. It’s about time Sony got their own iconic mascot - Sackboy will be that character,” Sony PlayStation’s Jonathan Fargher said.
“He’s a charming and personable character people will take to and the fact you can dress him up how you like will appeal. You’ll be able to make him a spaceman, pirate, cowboy, zombie - there’s even an Evel Knievel outfit for him,” he added. Cool.
