A POLICE officer has appeared in court charged in connection with the death of a motorcyclist killed in a fatal collision during a Police pursuit.
PC Ian Bruce, of Greater Manchester Police, was in pursuit of Alan Stuart Long in Stalybridge in August 2008, when the rider was involved in a collision with another vehicle. Mr Long died later in hospital.
PC Bruce, 33, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court to deny a charge of dangerous driving and was released on bail until his trial on 7 June.
He was charged following an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
The report, attained via BBC News, does not specify exactly why Mr Long did not stop when flagged down by Police prior to the incident.
