No hiding place for traffic offenders

New EU plans allow cross-border pursuit of road traffic offenders

Posted: 21 March 2008
by Roger Willis

EUROPEAN UNION transport commissioner Jacques Barrot has unveiled plans to allow for the cross-border pursuit of foreign car drivers and motorcyclists who flount traffic laws in other European countries.

Barrot wants to put a Europe-wide information and enforcement system in place whereby offenders can be traced, prosecuted and have penalties imposed. The new law, which must be approved by a qualified majority of EU member states, covers four offences – speeding, drink-driving/riding, jumping a red light and driving without a seatbelt.

Authorities in the country of origin of an offender will be obliged to provide the name and address details of the owners of cars or bikes caught on camera or stopped by the police.

They have been talking about information sharing for years...so far they havent managed to even get it right for rapists and paedophiles so I reckon it is some way off, and many of years or legislation changes in each country to get such a plan to work..

More EU hot air..tough on the motoring, tough on the causes of motoring

Go to Thetford and theres more foreign drivers than British ones. Lithuanians, Poles, Russians, Portugese, Roma's, Pikeys, Silly old farts with tweed caps on, children in Saxo's.

Bloody EU are all tossers

Sod the foreigners and their EU laws they can poke them where the sun dont shine

rant over

Is that because the locals struggle to drive with webbed feet and six fingers..or are they too busy marrying their sisters

Thats Ely, Chatteris, Fenland in general.

Thetford's quite dry and used to be full of exiled Londoners. Now it's exiled earthlings!

Posted: 21/03/2008 at 18:56

goneaway

Trouble is traffic fines are a good source of revenue whereas rapists and pedos are lowlife scum for which we pay a fortune lock up.

The legislation is virtually in place already. Some years ago I was working in a job which involved supporting some Police IT systems which had to interface with PNC. As I was leaving the system was being modified to comply with the Schengen Agreement requirements, amongst which was the sharing of data between partner countries, most if not all of whom are in the EU.

Gedge, question. You are quick to be offended by people generalising by calling gypo's 'pikeys' etc, yet you find no problems in abusing the feelings of people that live in the styx.

You have just offended me with your post above....How do you justify that from your moral high ground.

It was meant in jest to point out the ridiculousness of blaming all the driving ills of the country on foreigners..my apologies if you were genuinely offended

Not the genuine tone of my apology as I could have easily just said that coming from Norfolk is neither a race nor a religion and therefore it is perfectly okay to poke fun and abuse people on that basis

This is unreal - my first post "racist - reported" was a bit too prophetic.

How come the moment anybody posts anything that vaguely involves Johnny Foreigner on here, then the BNP pop up and start a rant.

I thought the point of this thread related to us on our travels abroad and a warning that our immunity from prosecution was potentially coming to an end.

Posted: 22/03/2008 at 12:32

Who blamed all the driving I'lls in the country on foreigners? I just want the foreigners who drive like tossers over here brought to book like the indiginous population are.

Didnt realise bikers had all become PC poofters.

And just for the record Its difficult to be racist to any other european as they are the same race as me, that including those of Indian extraction. Being British is a state of mind and culture and has nothing to do with ethnic origin.

I suggest you lot just ride your bikes and dont try anything to interlectual like writing as its obviously too much for your small minds.

If thats the reaction you had in mind, please take it with pleasure. If not ignore it I couldnt care less.

I live in Norfolk as after 25 years growing up in North London I quite like to live among my own people, just as the hoards of foreigners who come here do when they group together and bring down the local areas they take over.

If it's good enough for them it's good enough for me.

And no I'm not BNP but the like of you PC prats will soon make me!

And just what makes you think that they aren't brought to book over here???

A Pointless rant about the introduction of a simple piece of EU legislation..as someone else pointed out the agreement has been in place over the rest of europe for some time, and its actually about cross border pursuit and information exchange rather than cross border prosecution....

Whoa, slow down there.

The first post was light-hearted, the second one was aimed more at the assumption that it's always "foreigners" who are in the wrong. They have their faults, as do we when it comes to ability and awareness (neither of which are directly linked to the curent definition of standards within the DSA).

As for the rest of your rant - grow a thicker skin, you'll need it on here.

I dont need a thicker skin mate, twats Mr know it all Gedge need one. I happen to KNOW they get away with it because our wonderful law enforcement system will not chase any traffic violations overseas which includes Europe.

If Gedge can sit on a forum and pontificate to the sum of 13000 posts his bike must have no miles on it and live in solitary confinement in a garage as he is obviously a computer geek with only 'cyber' mates to impress.

Bye I'm off to see some 'real' people who live on the same planet as most of the population.

Don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out..

I have a house, a wife , 2 kids, a job, friends , hobbies  blah blah blah..If I have a high post count ( although spread over 5 yrs of membership it doesnt amount to much really...................) its because twats like you keep posting inaccurate drivel and I get enjoyment from showing you up

I also managed 8000 miles on my Tuono, 2000 miles on my Supermoto and close on 20000 miles in my car....as for chasing offenders abroad, look into some fatal accidents involving foreign lorry drivers, and the numbers of foreign lorry drivers brought before the courts in the UK.

as for chasing things abroad..thank fuck they dont do it reciprocally..only the French and Spanish camera operators would probably want a word with me..

I suppose if you have fucked off I have wasted anopther 5 minutes typing this..C'est la vie

this is killing me this thread....love it!

in the same vein as the original post....Devon and Cornwall fuzz have just issued a table with the amount of foreigners that are getting done on the roads down here......up over a hundred percent in a couple of years..and thats just the ones that are getting caught. the majority of them down here are uninsured, untaxed, pissed up....and thats not being racist...thats a fact unfortunately. One of my mates is a patrol plod, but has mates in traffic, and he reckons that nearly every eastern european plated vehicle they pull down here is illegal in some shape or form. The trouble is they always produce some document written in lithuanian/estonian/polish whatever... and claim its their insurance policy. without getting a translator how is poor pc traffic plod going to know...most of them arent particularly good with english, never mind a foreign language!! A couple have admitted to not bothering getting involved with foreign plated vehicles unless they are involved in an RTA.

Someone must be dealing with them for the figures to go up..maybe the couple you know are just lazy bastards..

Most forces run specific operations to target foeign lorry drivers which will account for a large proportion o those figures...and ask Foxy ( probably in the other place) he will tell you that most trafpols consider them easy pickings and are quite happy to deal with them

I wish they would hit on them more gedge, there are literally thousands of them down here in cornwall, there are caravan villages springing up all over the place, and of course these caravans are the ones that are too shagged out and have been chucked by holiday camps etc...they are rotten. it's like frigging Bosnia during the war with thousands of displaced people in temporary accomodation.

My mrs is a community midwife and as a lot of these eastern european girls are now getting knocked up , my mrs has to go out to these shanty towns to see them. I have had to go with her as 'security' a couple of times as a lot of the lads on these sites are drunk every night  and day that they aren't working. They think the NHS is the greatest thing since free vodka but get very annoyed when they demand ludicrous things from the midwives and health visitors, the latest one was angry because the nhs wont provide her with a cot, pram and baby clothes!!!

Sounds like the Costa Brava where UK plates and uninsured Brit cars litter the streets and the local population is out numbered by non native speakers demanding attention...

and at night wandering the streets pissed and loud causing the locals to demand they be sent home...

I dont care about Brits abroad. They should bloody well mix with the locals or come back here. If people in Spain dont like them, send them back here!
