New 500cc 2-stroke motor revealed

Fresh from Poland, this stunning custom-built bike breathes a whole new life into the diminishing world of smokey 2-strokes

Bloody hell - how cool is that?

Visordown Motorcycle News
Stunning quality fresh from Eastern Europe

A POLISH design company has developed and patented a new engine, and designed this radical motorcycle around it.

The JJ2S X4 500 is a 2-stroke, 500cc radial lump housed in a cafe racer-style chassis with fairly-conventional, if beautifully styled chassis parts around it.

The bike is currently being shown in this early prototype form and there is a planned runner to be out on test tracks by the end of the year.

Ever get the feeling that this is how Ducati should have re-designed the Monster?

The engine sounds interesting but that sure is an ugly concept bike...

+1 to both of you. That is one ugly bike and i dont really know if it being the only 500cc 2 stroke will be its saviour.

I think i would still prefer a classic RG500

Hell yes or a rd500. but thats me, I'm a yam kinda girl.

Yup RG or RD for me as well but a bit of progress is not a bad thing.

Get a polish 500 smoker and swap the lump into something that looks pos handles better and there you go

Padgetts had and RD500 for sale the other week, I couldnt see any RG500s there tho

RG500 is one of my must own bikes alsong side a 70's Z and a cafe racer

Those exhausts will have to change - no expansion chambers in the pretty ones they've drawn.

S'just what I was thinking. Interesting looking bike, mind. Wonder where the carbs sit and what shape the airbox takes - or if it's as well designed / thought out as the exhausts.

I get a feeling the bike might be some MA student's final project / not really feasible, but likely to score a first.

Let's see and hear it running before believing all the marketing hype.

I thought Ford had a 2 stroke car of 2 litres in development, don't know if its a radial or what but apparently with direct injection to the crankcases plus full exhaust catalysers/spark arrestors etc they can apparently be made to run very cleanly.

Whether this cures the perennial problem of 2 stroke cooling and lubrication deficit I don't know but obviously if this is a radial motor the problem is rather sidelined as you simply don't have the bore issues.

I would have thought it's a 4 Cylinder since it's an X4 radial motor.

wavydave
looks like a four stroke to me.

You can see in this picture it is indeed a radial 4 cylinder motorcycle and the carbs are on the side of the cylinders.

I quite like it, but I've always had a thing for radial engines. I saw a 1930s motorcycle with a radial engine mounted in the front wheel at an exhibition a few years back and looked amazing - probably handled shite.

It looks horible and as for being a two stroke it should be consigned ton the graveyard
