The 1800cc motor is expected to produce around 210bhp (compared with the original bike’s 145). According to Yamaha sources, the bike will use the fly-by-wire MotoGP throttle system already fitted to the R6.

It will redline around 9,500rpm although early reports have the £15,000 bike’s torque peaking at between 7 and 8,000rpm. The bike is expected to be on sale early 2009.
