MV AGUSTA has won the 2007 Master Bike competition. MV's flagship F4 R312 won the title of best motorcycle when up against the best the rest of the world could offer, including the Yamaha R1 and Triumph 675 in the finals.
The Master Bike test is run every year, journalists and racers from the 15 most popular motorcycle magazines gather together to thrash the bikes and choose a winner.
Unlike previous years, the three categories were changed this year to celebrate the tenth anniversary. The twin-cylinder and four-cylinder Superbike categories were replaced by Japanese Superbike and Italian Superbike.
The F4 R312 first won the Italian Superbike category by beating the Aprilia RSV1000 Factory and Ducati 1098S. The MV then took on and beat the Yamaha R1 and Triumph Daytona 675 in the final. These machines had beforehand respectively won the Japanese Superbike and Supersport 600 categories.
The F4 R312 allowed 4 riders out of 6 to their complete fastest laps in the final while 10 riders out of 18 clocked up their best times during the heats.
The F4 has become a legend in motorcycle history, it won the Superstock race at Oulton Park last weekend, currently competes in the AMA series and Carl Fogarty will run an MV team in next year's WSB Championship. This latest win is just one of many MV have racked up since launching the R312 earlier this year.
Yamaha's awesome new R1 took second spot and Triumph's leftfield 600, the 675cc triple took third spot.
