A TEAM of motorcycle-riding ambulances have been launched in to cut through the crowded roads of Delhi.
The ‘Bike Ambulance’ scheme, the first-of-its-kind in the country, is a two-wheeler ambulance service which aims to give accident victims an urgent pillion ride to the nearest hospital.
The ambulances, with a ride and an attendant (?!), will be deployed across the city for round-the-clock service after its launch later this year.
Called: “First Response Vehicles”, the ambulance service will be run by trained medical staff.
N Balachandran, Special Secretary Health and project director of CATS said:
“We hope the service will help people get treatment as quickly as possible. It is much easier for motorcycles to find their way through the heavy traffic we see in the city all the time.”
