Motorbike found in sewer

Creates log-jam

A MOTORBIKE, typewriters and a child’s paddling pool are among the extensive list of unusual items found in Burton’s clogged-up sewers, according to the Burton Mail.

Severn Trent Water released the inventory of sewer-surplus in a bid to cut the £10 million clean-up bill — a cost which is passed onto customers. Burton's 700km sewer network is the most congested in the midlands.

A Severn Trent Water spokesman commented: 'Other more common items we find blocking sewers and drains are things like cotton buds, condoms, nappies, razor blades and plasters.'

The company is trying to encourage people to more careful about what they flush down the toilet, and to be mindful of the costly implications that blockages can cause.

So, if you're about to flush your motorbike down the toilet - think again.
