AN AUSTRALIAN politician has said he feels more threatened by computer gamers than outlawed motorcycle gangs, after stating the country's censorship on adult-only computer games should not be lifted.

Speaking about his fears, South Australia’s Attorney-General Michael Atkinson said he had received a threatening note from a gamer.

“I feel that my family and I are more at risk from gamers than we are from the outlaw motorcycle gangs who also hate me,” he told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

“The outlaw motorcycle gangs haven’t been hanging around my doorstep at 2:00 am, but a gamer has.”

Australia currently has a ban on certain computer games featuring adult-only violence, strong language, nudity and drug use.

Atkinson became hated by many of Australia's biking fraternity after he introduced anti-motorcycle gang laws in South Australia. Under Atkinson's new law, authorities can declare a gang as a criminal organisation, effectively making membership of a gang illegal.

This proposed Legislation which would have enabled the State Government of South Australia to" proscibe " motorcycle clubs/gangs was promptly thrown out by the Supreme Court on the grounds of their being totally unacceptable in a Democracy and unconstitutional. Under these facist Laws, any person that offended the State Government (or could be described as a "bikie " ) lost their freedom of association ( in other words could NOT hang-out with their mates or even family ) and it would have been ILLEGAL to be a member of any group the State Government deemed or chose. Anyone with any intelligence can see the potential here for abuse and where all this could lead to. All other State and Territory Governments and Police Services in Australia were watching with great interest as they too hoped to enact similar Legislation. The problem with Police is that they ALWAYS want more powers ( despite often abusing what they have already ) and the problem with Politicians is that they ALWAYS want to be seen to be doing something in response to outrageous over-hyped and inaccurate tabloid crap from mass media. I trust this update sets a few minds at rest. Australia is far from perfect but resorting to facism isn't one of it's faults - despite the efforts of the unlamented John Winston Howard and jerks like Michael Atkinson whom carries the title Attorney General but is just another political chancer.

Further to my last - this validates all that I said ...

That this pathetic political germ is claiming some self-importance and continues to seek the oxygen of publicity is laughable. The decision of the Supreme Court has rendered his opinion and any further legal thrashing-about from him as totally irrelevant. Sometimes, there is Justice after all !!!
