A GANG of monks went on the rampage in a Himalayan motorcycle shop after police arrested and reportedly beat three Buddhist monks.
Sources say the monks had tried to rob a motorcycle shop in a remote Tibetan town, but the shopkeeper had lashed out at the monks, an violence erupted. After the monks' arrest over 200 people, including more monks, were involved in the violence after police refused to release them.
Around 800 police were called to the area to quell the uprising. Seven people were arrested, including two of the monks accused of robbery and five others charged with fanning the riot a day later.
