May 2010's top-selling bikes

Yamaha YZF-R125

THE Motorcycle Industry Association has released breakdown of the UK's top-selling motorcycles in May 2010 by category.

Once again, BMW figure well within the statistics; the company's ubiquitous R1200GS and game-changing S1000RR superbike both dominate their respected categories. That said, sales of both machines were significantly down on a couple of months ago; BMW sold 385 S1000RRs and 450 R1200GS and GS Adventures in March 2010 alone.

Small capacity machines figured well in May's statistics; Yamaha's commuter friendly YBR125 and race replica YZF-R125 both headed the 125cc market, notching up combined sales of 461, while the company's XT125 trail bike claimed the top spot in the trail/enduro sector.
