A GAGGLE OF speed camera situated at roadworks in North-West England has raked in over £334,000 in fines in just over FIVE weeks.

It's reported 5,569 road users have been caught by the cash-grabbing camera in a 50mph speed limit on the M6 near Carlisle.

If the cameras keep up their current pace more than £3million in fines will be accumulated over a 12 month period.

The current record is set by a camera on the M11, which has raked in more than £1 million in fines in a single year.

Keep 'em peeled.

CaNsA

There are no need for these cameras to be active, unless there are roadworkers actually doing work.

I was on the m6 a couple of weeks ago and didnt see a single person in the coned off sections.

All these cameras seem to achieve is increasing my journy time.

And its a ballache....

mikesW sick

Totally agree with you CaNsA, I monthly go on the M6 and M1. Those forward cams/road works been there for years! I'm sick and tired of them! Out of 30 times on the m1 ive only probably seem once or twice workers on there! No wonder it takes years to fix the motorways. Why do they block miles of road when they can take sections like a couple of miles at a time!

antimagneto
5000+ drivers speeding eh. I wonder just how many accidents this has resulted in? Must be carnage. Of course if there were no more accidents than usual then it's just another stealth tax collected conveniently by electronic Dick Turpins. Anyone know the stats?
