Now that's a sexy 'moto

FROM SPRING 2009, KTM will be adding their new 990 Supermoto R to their existing line up of Austrian-made machines.

Based on the KTM 990 Supermoto launched in 2008, the 2009 version of the Supermoto R has the well-known strong acceleration and rev friendly 999cc LC8 motor, with the addition of new Brembo Monoblock brakes, light metal cast wheels and even more sporty ergonomics.

The black coated swingarm, foot pegs and orange-coloured lacquer on the powder coated tubular steel frame all combine to ensure the KTM 990 Supermoto is a real eye-catcher. The KTM 990 Supermoto R will be officially presented to the public for the first time at the innovations trade fair EICMA in Milan. Start of production is planned for February 2009.

Looks a bit nice.

Don't know what a "swinger arm" is though

Have never been sure about their R series. Often it means a smaller tank and new paint job. Would have thought they would throw some real goodies at it such as carbon wheels/bits and the full acroprovic system to be a true R spec...

Rode the stock 990 while my 950 was in, to be honest I didnt find a good enough reason to switch....yet

A swinger arm is one that swings both ways

Lovely looking bit of kit. Released just in time for the global credit crunch.

I rode a mates SMR the other day. Nimble and comfortable, but not really a SM, IFSWIM.

Great bikes, and prefer the black and orange to the '09 shell suit.

Duc Hypermotard has been there, done that with a nicer design. Now if this bike came out 2 years ago, that would be impressive.

I have a 690 supermoto RI am a new rider.  Done until now 2400 km. The bike is more that I expected to be. I live in Canada and people approach me and admire the bike.Makes me very proudThe new 990 r looks really cool. I welcome the white paint. It will catch more eyes than the strait black. Orange is irreplaceable.Plus this version of engine is bigger and has injection.......It is a perfect formula for trouble free maintenance. If I will buy one?????  No need to ask me....Show me were and when I can get it....
