KAWASAKI AMERICA has placed the new 2011 ZX-10R on a technical hold, it has been revealed.

Machines are to be withheld from sale with immediate effect; owners already in possession are being offered a full refund.

According to the press release, "The company is proactively addressing a remedy which reflects Kawasaki's commitment to excellence and its relationships with its highly valued customers and dealer network."

Unsold units will be returned to Kawasaki warehouses until the company is "100 percent confident they reflect company standards for this highly technical, race-bred machine."

Visordown has just spoken to Kawasaki UK, who say they are looking into whether it's a "worldwide problem."

We'll keep you posted.

Hmmm, am sure they'll get it sorted very quickly.

It must be a huge issue to take the bikes back

Ah man. That sucks. That isn't going to do Kawasaki's reputation any good, either.

@Colin Porteous Yep, sounds big. That and their apparent tight-lippedness about whatever is going wrong...

Would you all rather they do what Honda did in 2008 with the Fireblade? Or Suzukis silence regarding their utter "unawareness" of frame welding issues? So they made a mistake and they admitted to it. Taking responsibility speaks loads about their philosophy compared to the others.

@z d I don't think anyone is disputing that, lol.

Think it will do kawasaki`s reputation some good , as it shows how serious they are about this bike .

Frame? What else would trigger a complete buy-back?
