Rutter ... raced despite painful injury

MICHAEL Rutter, a BSB regular and road-racing stalwart rode the Senior TT with a broken wrist, Visordown can reveal.

The Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki team bounced back from a difficult TT race week to take eighth place in the Pokerstars Senior TT " and this despite a broken scaphoid bone in Michael Rutter's wrist.

Michael picked up the injury when he crashed out of one of the British Superbike races at Snetterton last month. The top ten result comes at the end of a difficult week for the team who had suffered two DNFs in the Superbike and Supersport events following technical problems.

Initially it was thought that Michael's wrist injury was just a simple sprain, but following further medical investigation on the Isle of Man it was confirmed that the 34-year-old from Kirkby Mallory had broken his scaphoid.

Michael Rutter said: "It's been a very tough week. I was gutted with the two DNFs early on this week, so it's a real result to get the finish. The TT is always tough on bikes and that's why I'm happy to bring the bike home. It would have been nice to have a better result but I'm very happy to get a finish. I've not been 100% fit and to get eighth with a broken wrist is a bit of a result. The whole two weeks have been pretty emotional: A real roller-coaster ride. I've enjoyed it " sure, I've not enjoyed the problems " but I'd still love to come back next year. People only thought I was doing it this year as it was the 100th TT event, but I love it and I hope to come back again and get the results I know I'm capable of around here. "
